Insanity Total Body Conditioning
This workout program is made up of ten DVDs, and no equipment is needed to use it. Although not specifically a MMA workout program, it is actually both effective and well thought out, and I have to say it’s a little extreme. But in my opinion that’s a plus, not a minus.
With the Insanity program you perform exercises at maximum intensity with short breaks for recovery, and you will be working aerobically and anaerobically to keep your body challenged. This one is no walk in the park, that’s for sure…
The ten DVDs include an initial test to determine your fitness level, plyometrics, cardio recovery, balance, interval training, targeting your abs, and a lot more. If you can complete this program you will definitely improve your muscle tone and definition, your fitness, and if you need to lose some pounds this will do it. It also comes with a nutrition plan, a calendar for tracking your progress, and you will be able to take advantage of some online materials, advice and support.

Turbulence Training
I’ve only had this program for a couple of days and already I like it. It’s put together by Craig Ballantyne, CSCS, MS, who writes for a number of major fitness publications including Men’s Health, Men’s Fitness and Maximum Fitness. Although it’s not specifically MMA orientated, it’s definitely worth taking a look at.
Thoroughly covering everything from mindset, goal setting and nutrition through to the actual workouts themselves. I like that this program includes bodyweight and weight training exercises, and incorporates equipment like stability balls which I am a great fan of. If you have found it difficult to lose body fat, there is a lot of information here that may just be what you need succeed.
With a wealth of workout routines running from beginner and intermediate up to advanced level, and additional material for targeting specific areas such as abs, plenty of charts to record your progress plus an in depth look at diet and nutrition, this is a complete package for anyone interested in getting optimal results.

The Ultimate MMA Strength and Conditioning Program
I’ve been going through this program for a week or two, and I have to say it’s pretty good. It’s by Eric Wong, who is a MMA Performance Coach, and he currently coaches Jeff “The Inferno” Joslin, Rory McDonell, Ray “The Hitman” Penny, Jack Szatko and other members of Team Joslin. So it’s a real MMA workout program.
It’s not just a bunch of exercises though, it’s an actual program aimed at showing you how get to into the condition you need to be in to compete in MMA. Not only does it cover flexibility and mobility training, recovery, strength and power training, periodization and so on, it also looks at important issues such as the importance of goal setting (for example).
The exercises are covered in detail as you would expect and there are training logs to chart your progress. I also liked that the subject of cutting weight was thoroughly explained, as well as there being extensive information on nutrition and diet.
Here is a brief quote from the introduction:
“This manual will teach you everything you need to know about conditioning for MMA. If you follow the program outlined, you will build a super-solid foundation from which to hone your MMA specific skills”
Definitely worth looking at if you are serious about MMA conditioning, you can check it out here.
